Halloween Countdown
A live countdown to Halloween, ticking down to the second in your own time zone.
–
Counts to midnight on October 31 in your device's time zone. Leave this page open and it keeps ticking.
How many days until Halloween?
The big numbers above show the exact time left until Halloween, October 31, down to the second. The countdown runs on your own device clock and time zone, so it hits zero at midnight wherever you are. On Halloween itself it wishes you a Happy Halloween, and from November 1 it starts counting down to next year.
How the countdown works
It takes the moment Halloween begins (00:00 on October 31) and subtracts the current time, then splits what is left into days, hours, minutes and seconds.
Time left = midnight on October 31 − now
"Sleeps" counts the nights left, which is the number of calendar dates between today and Halloween. On October 30 it shows 1 sleep, because one more night's sleep and it is Halloween morning.
Worked example
On September 1, 2026 there are 29 more days in September (2 through 30) and 31 days of October up to Halloween. That makes 29 + 31 = 60 sleeps, or about 8.6 weeks. Halloween 2026 falls on a Saturday, and on September 1 we are 305 of the 365 days, or about 83.6%, of the way from Halloween 2025.
Handy Halloween planning milestones
- About 6 weeks out: pick costumes, especially homemade ones or anything that has to ship. Popular costumes sell out in October.
- About 4 weeks out: pumpkin patches open and decorations go up. Book any party venue or send invitations.
- About 1 week out: buy candy (and a backup bag), and check your town's trick-or-treat hours, which some places set for a different evening when Halloween lands on a Sunday.
- 2 or 3 days out: carve pumpkins. A carved pumpkin usually lasts only a few days before it starts to sag.
Tips
- Keep the page open on a spare screen for a live Halloween party clock. It keeps ticking without refreshing.
- Can't decide on a costume or which movie to watch? Put the options on the spin the wheel and let it choose.
- Once Halloween is over, the Christmas countdown takes over.
